Group of Experts

This activity is based on the 'Collaborative Learning Techniques'.Collaborative learning is a situation in which two or more people learn or attempt to learn something together. There are several techniques that we can use as teachers in order to improve this group-learning.
The teacher can be as imaginative as he or she wants, given that the goal is a complete and useful learning.

Our teacher, Miguel, decided that the best way to teach us the knowledge he want us to learn and use as a tool in our future work, was an activity called 'Group of Experts'.
Its main aim was to check over what we, the students, have learned in general about our previous sessions talking about 'School Guidance and Counselling'.

At the beggining, he divided the class in four groups and give each group some papers about different topics:
- Early childhood and School Education.
- Higher Education.
- Lifelong Learning Approach.
- Adult Education and Training.

We share our information with the other members of the different groups and we build our personal concepts.

After of this information-sharing, Miguel told us that we would have to study this own paper because he was going to do an exam (because it really was an exam not a 'prueba' as he wants us to believe).

We had an entire class to develop our answers. The first hour of the session, he asked us to answer the questions by ourselfs without any help.
The next hour, he allowed us to complete our first answer-sheet in order to have all the answers completed.

Some questions that were part of the exam were:

A. Principles of Guidance and Counselling in early childhood and school education.
B. What are the Centres for Guidance and Information on Employment in charge of?
C. In which programmes/services do we talk about the possibility of recognize and certify experienced knowledge and skills?
D. Why is Adult Education and Training in itself an unspecific support measure?

In my opinion, this activity was useful because we depeen in our previous knowledge and we understood better the main ideas of School Guidance and Counselling.
On the other hand, it was a little bit boring. We couldn't pay attention for long and it was a little bit chaotic.
